Message from the SSRN eLibrary
Dear SSRN Community Member:
We reached our 10th Anniversary in 2004 and it was a banner year. We
had significant growth in our eLibrary with downloads exceeding 2.7
million and the aggregate number of documents increasing to almost
84,000 (a 33% increase over last year). The numbers of authors in
SSRN also grew substantially to approximately 45,000 (a 25% increase
over last year). This information is updated daily and available on
the SSRN eLibrary Search page <http://papers.ssrn.com (http://papers.ssrn.com/)>.
One of the nicest experiences of 2004 was the tremendous responses to
Michael Jensen's 10th Anniversary message. I invite you to read his
letter <http://ssrn.com/update/general/mjensen.html> if you haven't
already. It provides an overview of our history, an understanding of
what SSRN is all about, and our commitments to our authors and our
readers. Many of our users expressed how SSRN has become an integral
part of their research process. Still others said that they couldn't
imagine doing research without the eLibrary. Several didn't realize
the breadth of the subjects covered or the number of years we have
been here. These responses truly please us because you are the reason
SSRN is successful. Without the support of our authors and readers
SSRN would not exist. Thank you!
Our year-end publishing break has been scheduled from Monday, 20
December 2004 through Monday, 3 January 2005. During the break,
SSRN's email abstracting journals will be temporarily suspended so
that we can perform maintenance on our servers and complete the
testing for additional SSRN UserHQ fuinctionality that will be
released in early 2005. We will continue to provide support for
downloads, paper purchases, and submissions. For any requests during
the break, please contact UserSupport@SSRN.Com or call (877)
SSRNHelp.
Happy holidays and best wishes for 2005! If I can be of assistance or
you have suggestions on how to improve SSRN, please contact me at
mailto:Gregg_Gordon@SSRN.com [Gregg_Gordon@SSRN.com] or 585.442.8170.
