PhD Studentships in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to offer two PhD studentships. The studentships are intended to extend the continued development of research and research staff interests by supporting new areas of enquiry and are funded through additional research investment by the University and Faculty.
A studentship isavailable from the following area:
The role of playful practice for learning in early childhood
Homicide and violence among gangs in the UK
Details of the Studentships
The studentships will be tenable for three years full-time study leading to a PhD and will attract a bursary of £12k per annum in line with the levels recommended by the UK Research Councils. Tuition fees will also be waived. Opportunities for paid teaching might exist according to Faculty and Departmental need. The successful candidates will be required to submit their theses within four years of enrolment.
Application Procedures
The awards will be made through open competition and subject to the University’s research degree application process. Strength of the applications and candidates will be a key determinant of which two of the above research areas are proceeded with.
