The Hallsworth Conference War and our World
The Hallsworth Conference ‘War and our World’
An International Conference at the University of Manchester, Manchester Conference Centre, 19-21 July 2007
The University of Manchester is committed to promoting informed debate on the major issues of our time. One of the most pressing issues concerns the changing nature and consequences of war. Today’s news media are full of stories of war, the sources of armed conflict and its impact on individuals and societies. The international conference, War and our World, provides an opportunity to address this recurrent feature of human society. Our plenary speakers reflect the interdisciplinary focus of the conference. Individual panels will provide a forum for established scholars and graduate students to interact.
Confirmed plenary speakers include:

. Joanna Bourke, Professor of History at Birkbeck College;
. Rony Brauman, former President of Medecins Sans Frontieres;
