Peace X Peace: Executive Director position
Description: Mission of Peace X Peace
Peace X Peace is an international women-led organization that connects
women over the internet to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution of
conflict and to support actions that improve the status of women and
families. We use circle principles of communication and we foster
alliances with other like-minded groups. At www.peacexpeace.org, women
share their experiences and expertise as other women connect with them
across cultures for mutual benefit.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
As Executive Director of this dynamic organization, you will work closely
with the Board of Directors and key staff to implement programs, outreach
activities, and strategies for exponential growth. You will inspire and
manage teambuilding for maximum effectiveness, efficiency, creativity, and
happiness. You will oversee fundraising activities and the implementation
of objectives within budget. Along with the Chair of the Board, you will
act as the face of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Managing the activities of the organization and, working with key staff,
coordinating those activities with strategic partners
* Building a cohesive organizational team at DC headquarters, off-site,
and internationally
* Improving effectiveness of program administration through continuous
review, development of policies, and application of technologies
* Fundraising
* Hiring, firing, and supervising staff
* Working with the Board and key staff to develop initiatives and projects
* Participating in budget development and monitoring cash flow
* Providing reports to the Board of Directors on budget, project trends,
competition, and new opportunities
* Maintaining excellent working relationships with key constituencies,
including funding sources and program partners
* Handling assignments from the Board of Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Advanced degree in organizational management and/or more than five years
of hands-on experience in non-profit organization and management
* Superior organizational, communication, teambuilding, and management
talents, including with long-distance staff
* Demonstrated effectiveness in fundraising
* Deep understanding of, and expertise in, non-hierarchical social and
organizational structures
* Strong background in internet-based technologies and management
information systems
* Strong background in report writing, proposal writing, and presentations
* Outstanding interpersonal skills and cross-cultural understanding
* Multiple languages and public speaking skills are a plus
* Proven experience in recruiting, training, inspiring, and supervising
employees and volunteers.
