Evelin dislikes posing for pictures, however, has been persuaded by the HumanDHS network members that she should make an effort. The reason is that pictures offer an easily accessible way to document her work. These pictures are thus meant to share Evelin's efforts and whereabouts with the HumanDHS network (many photos are made by accidental bypassers, kindly asked to take a picture).

auto show

13th March 2010, 80th International Motor Show, March 2010 Geneva.
Unfortunately, also the 2010 Motor Show did not show much improvement on my points of criticism that I list in my 2010 book Gender, Humiliation, and Global Security:
"I am a technology enthusiast. I am a faithful attendee of all motor shows wherever I travel. However, the longer I spend at each show, the more enraged I get. How can self-respecting engineers deliver such mediocre work? Where is my high-tech car that is fully recyclable and uses, for instance, the energy of the sun? What about hydrogen motors with the hydrogen fuel produced from solar collectors in the African desert? Why do engineers have so little trust in their products that they must humiliate my sisters by setting them up as sex-traps in front of their technology? And how do they expect me to buy their products, if they sell them by humiliating female dignity? Is it really a good idea to cater to sexist males and repulse the rest? Are such practices liberating sexuality? Are they not rather co-opting all females into the role of toys for all males, who misuse the freedom of Western individualism to “play”?" (pp. 105-6)

cololine1 colorline2 psk1 klempe ekeberg

7th-8th January 2010, with Color Line (MS Color Magic) from mainland Europe (Kiel, Germany), to Oslo, Norway, a journey of 20 hours. The journey begins with waiting (before driving onboard), then the ship leaves the harbour. Arrival is next morning at around 10.30. In Kiel temperatures were at ca. minus 10 degrees Celcius, in Oslo at almost minus 20 degrees (during the night temperatures had fallen to more than minus 40 degrees in several places in southern Norway).
I have a tradition of celebrating when arriving on board of the ship with the one beer that I usually drink per year (sometimes two). Upon arrival in Oslo, I always immediately drive to the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo. I am deeply thankful for the help and support I reveice from everybody there! My computer got the brilliant expert attention it urgently needed (Egil and Øivind rescued the sound card: HOORAY!!!), and my snail mail was waiting for me that had been faithfully and kindly collected for me during the past months (note: please do not send snail mail to me expecting quick responses!).
Later the same day, I had a chance to touch ground with our esteemed Global Advisory Board member Hroar Klempe from the University in Trondheim.
