Let`s Dignify Our Day-to-Day Dialogues
Pairs of rhymed reflections, by Francisco Gomes de Matos, a peace linguist from Recife, Brazil
When can we dignify our day-by-day dialogues?
- When the words we use help communication edify
When the things we say help cooperation amplify - When the texts we create peacefully elevate
When the meanings we convey spiritually elevate - When through cordial speech we can humanize
When through friendly e-mails we can harmonize - When serious misunderstandings we can prevent
When unfriendly messages we can circumvent - When for our communicative faults we apologize
When a speaker`s or writer´s virtues we eulogize - When a human being or an animal we refuse to humiliate
When a divine or a human being´s creation we appreciate - When fairly disagreement we can express
When verbally no human being we oppress
What else ? It´s up to you, dear reader, to add to the list. In doing so, reflect on the dignifying quality of each suggestion. Try this activity out in groups, at home, at school, at work, etc.
