You're Invited! Our 40th Annual Dignity Conference!

Dear Linda,

You are warmly invited to our 40th Annual Dignity Conference in Madrid!

This conference comes in two parts, a three-day workshop for in-person participants followed by a one-day public event open to in-person and online participants.

Workshop

Tuesday – Thursday, 17th – 19th September 2024

09:00 – 17:00 (in person)

The first three days of our conference will offer participants (who are with us in person) a workshop format that is very open, allowing for flexibility and self-organizing. We use our time collaboratively, inviting participants to join us without the need to give a formal "presentation," thus fostering a sense of community and dignity-building. Participants are asked to bring their authentic selves, be open to all possibilities, and contribute in a nurturing manner.

We aim to collaboratively shape our conferences, drawing on the principles of Open Space and emphasizing dialogue and dignity, which we term "Dignilogue." Our in-person participants are welcome to attend the entire conference, as we strive to bring together a global community for whom dignity is central.

Public Event

Friday, 20th September 2024, 09:00 – 17:00 (in person and online)

The fourth day is our Public Event with contributions from special guests! We invite in-person and online friends to join us for this engaging Public Event!

Evolving Conference Program

The conference has two parts, a workshop part and a public part. Please kindly visit the conference website for the latest information.

1. Workshop with Dignilogues

Tuesday – Thursday, September 17th – 19th, 2024

09:00 – 17:00 (three days, in person)

Escuelas Pías UNED, beautiful Assembly Hall

Calle de Tribulete, 14, 28012 Madrid

Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED)

How to get there: Metro: L3 (Lavapiés) EMT: 27, 34, 36, 41, 119, C1 Cercanías: C5 (Embajadores)

Lavapiés is in the heart of a very central neighborhood in Madrid, a neighborhood full of life, well known for its multicultural mix of very different people living there. Escuelas Pías UNED are located in a historical building destroyed during the Spanish Civil War (1936–39), and restored in the 1990s, leaving some of the damage of the war visible.

Description: For the past decade, we have continuously worked to dignify the traditional institution "conference." We therefore aim at co-creating our conferences, adapting the Open Space approach and adding the term dialogue, connecting it with dignity to form the expression "Dignilogue." We invite participants to bring themselves as they are, to be prepared for creative engagement, to enjoy learning and "listening others into voice," and to contribute in the most nurturing way they can.
